Extreme Smile Makeover - What is it and why?
Those of you who have seen ABC's "Extreme Makeover" most likely have realized what a new set of beautiful, white veneers can do for a person's appearance, self-image and happiness! In point of fact, an attractive smile can break the ice, improve careers, romances, etc.
As a society, consumers spend a lot of money on clothes, cosmetics, hair products and many more things to improve appearance. Sadly, many fail to realize the important role a beautiful and healthy set of teeth play in our daily lives. Beautiful smiles will help you make friends, get better jobs, and keep you healthier just because you are happier, you will have less stress (very bad for your heart!) and more self-confidence, etc.
This is the golden age of dentistry. With recent advances in material and techniques, dental professionals who keep up with technology can give you not only functional dentistry, but absolutely beautiful teeth as well. As a patient, one does not have to put up with crowns that scream out for negative attention (dark line at gum, for example), unsightly bridges or dentures, black amalgam fillings, etc.
We, at Southeast Texas Cosmetic Dentistry, take pride in keeping up with the latest techniques and technologies. Our doctors have always dedicated tremendous time and expense through seminars and continuing education courses, gaining at least ten times more yearly credit hours that are required by the Dental Board to maintain the licensure.
Yes, we are confident of our ability to give you that Hollywood smile you have always dreamed of. We look forward to giving you that life-changing experience. Indeed, it’s about life and attitude, not just teeth!
DENTAL IMPLANTS
What are dental implants?
Think of them as replacement roots that are inserted in the jaw to replace missing teeth.
What are the potential pain and complications associated with implant procedures?
In most cases, there is very little pain after the insertion of implants. As far as complications are concerned, if you are in good health, a non-smoker and you follow our pro- and post-appointment instructions, the chance of infection or rejection is minimal.
How long do implants last?
With proper maintenance, implants will provide you with many years of service.
Who’s a good candidate for implants?
Anyone who has one, or more missing teeth. In addition, perfect candidates are denture wearers. Also, if you have bad problems with bridge works, implants may benefit you.
What are the benefits of implants?
If you have had to endure loose dentures, you can now have solid implant-supported dentures that will allow you to chew much better, laugh and smile without having to worry about your denture coming loose. You will do away with the expense and bad taste of denture adhesive!
Moreover, if you have been having problem with gagging or speech, implants will allow you to have a denture that is much smaller and has no part that covers the roof of the mouth; therefore, a much more comfortable appliance.
In addition, implants will help preserve your jawbone and bone density. You will be able to avoid having thin lips, witch's chin or accentuated wrinkles from drooping muscles.
Indeed, you will have more joy of life and better health.
For those of you who still have a lot of natural teeth, implants can help replace the missing teeth functionally and esthetically while preserving your jaw bone, preventing gum shrinkage and unnecessary cutting of healthy adjacent teeth for bridges.
Do implants cost a lot?
If you think of all the health benefits, self-confidence and joy of life that implants can offer you, the cost is well worth it. Indeed, you will probably spend more daily on soft drinks and junk food than for your implants
